Courtney, over at Click it up a Notch has a weekly feature where we can link up and post something we learned this week. Earlier in the week she had a post about how to photograph Christmas lights. I read that post, got my camera out and started practicing! This week I learned how to photograph lights! Here is the shot I like the best. 1/13 shutter speed, f/4.5 and ISO 800. I'm limited by my kit lens on the aperture setting, but hopefully Santa will buy me that new lens I asked for. :) Suggestions? Should I have increased my ISO and increased my shutter speed or doesn't that matter? (Click image to enlarge)
awesome bokeh. The exposure looks good, I wouldn't change iso or anything. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks good and will work until you get your new lens.
ReplyDeleteWonderful job, Amber! I agree that your settings look great! You were able to capture some yummy bokeh :O) Great DOF (depth of field) as well!! Did you use a tripod?? If not, you have one heck of a steady hand for 1/13 shutter speed!! Great job!! Thanks for posting a picture!
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about photography, but that is one beautiful picture!
ReplyDeleteAmber ~ it looks fabulous, the color is great, it is crisp and clear, the bokeh is wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI have a habit of always keeping my ISO at 100. It gets my in trouble with shutter speed. Just last evening, I was inside photographing puppies and forgot to raise it. My shutter speed was way to slow and many of my shots were blurry.
That is such a pretty picture! Oh Christmas!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI am with Courtney and love the depth of field. The ornament is in excellent focus too. I also love that it's colored lights :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shot, love the bokeh of the colored lights.
ReplyDeleteThanks gals! Courtney- I didn't use a tripod, but I did use my kitchen table as my tripod :) Definitely don't have that steady of a hand.
ReplyDeleteHey Amber!! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I wanted to let you know that I am a huge fan of this photo!!! I love the bokeh.
